Minnesota Alliance for Geographic Education & LTML host summer institute for teachers
Aaron Doering and staff from the Learning Technologies Media Lab and the Minnesota Alliance for Geographic Education hosted the first of two summer institutes to be held this summer. Held the week of June 25, 2012, the Authentic Pedagogy for Integrating Instructional Technology, Reading, and Writing into the New Minnesota Academic Standards for Geography Institute focused on guiding and motivating social studies educators in the instruction of geography using geospatial technologies. The teachers worked hands-on with Geothentic — an online scaffolded learning environment that helps teachers integrate geospatial technologies in the K-12 classroom — to improve their technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge.
