Doering visited Wellington, New Zealand, to serve on the New Zealand National Science Challenges assessment panel. The panel assessed proposals centered on ten different research areas tied to a variety of science topics, including aging, health, nutrition, biology, the environment, sustainable seas, technological innovation, and climate change resilience. The National Science Challenges are a part of a new initiative by the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment to draw together scientists from different institutions and across disciplines to collaborate on finding solutions to major scientific challenges facing the country and globe.
