Doering showcases EarthXplorers at National Council for Geographic Education conference
Doering presented a paper showcasing EarthXplorers at the National Council for Geographic Education conference in Tampa, Floria, in late July. EarthXplorers is a new online learning environment from Doering’s LT Media Lab that offers an inquiry- and project-based approach to learning GIS, was presented at the ESRI Education conference in San Diego. Sponsored by ESRI and designed in collaboration with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, EarthXplorers scaffolds learners & teachers alike through the process of geographic inquiry. Learners engage in field-based activities, data collection, analysis, spatial visualization, and storytelling as they tackle modern-day challenges centered on national sites of historical significance.
The National Council for Geographic Education (NCGE) is a nonprofit organization, chartered in 1915 to enhance the status and quality of geography teaching and learning. NCGE supports geography teaching at all levels—from kindergarten through university. Members include U.S. and international teachers, professors, students, businesses, and others who support geography education.
